Information
Nowhere else in the world will you find a larger collection of Australian aquatic life than at the Sydney Aquarium. With over 12,000 Australian aquatic animals, the largest collection of sharks on display, and the biggest Great Barrier Reef display in the world!
Visitors to the Aquarium can now go behind the scenes and get close to one of Australia's most dangerous marine creatures, with the chance to feed the attraction's sharks.
The new experience takes place at 11am each day on the Shark Explorer - a glass bottomed-boat which puts visitors on the surface of the Aquarium's Great Barrier Reef exhibit. For $25 a person, those brave enough to take part can feed the hungry sharks a selection of large squid and fish.
One of the most popular features at the Aquarium, the Great Barrier Reef exhibit is more than 30 metres long and holds 1.65 million litres of water.
Visitors can also find out more about the Aquarium's sharks by attending a free `tank talk' at the Reef Theatre at 1.30pm daily, when a diver inside the tank answers questions from the audience using an underwater microphone system.
