Arts Radar & Tamarama Rock Surfers are proud to present the return season of the multi-award winning VisionTheatre Production: Death in Bowengabbie. This darkly funny 2009 Adelaide Fringe smash from one of Australia’s hottest playwright Caleb Lewis is coming to Sydney by popular demand to delight Old Fitz audiences.
Death in Bowengabbie is a tender and life-affirming comedy about the big stuff - Life, Death and Love. After a hit season at the 2009 Adelaide Fringe Festival and a national tour, AWGIE award winning writer Caleb Lewis now directs Andrew Brackman in this Phillip Parsons Writing Award winning play.
Death in Bowengabbie follows Oscar, a young man called back to his old home-town to attend a series of increasingly bizarre funerals. From burials at sea, school fetes to a full scale recreation of the Normandy Landings, Oscar attends a series of ‘event-funerals’ as the aging locals compete to throw Bowengabbie’s biggest ever send-off.
A deserved favourite of the Fringe. The Australian
A rich, dark, hilarious comedy! A rekindled love interest, an ambitious rival, a suspicion that the deaths may not be natural - it’s all there in a brilliant mix. Rip it Up
